Expert Witness Accreditation Service

RICS EWAS - UK is a voluntary scheme that sets the standards for chartered surveyors who act as expert witnesses.

EWAS is designed to raise standards in a sector that has not previously been subject to professional regulation. It will set universal standards for expert witnesses across the property and built environment sector.

The service is open to all property professionals and underpinned by a dedicated training course, assessment and the RICS regulatory regime.

The service includes members with the specialist knowledge and practical experience to provide impartial, independent evidence for a wide range of fields, including:

  • Agriculture and farm business
  • Arts and antiques
  • Boundaries and party walls
  • Building surveying 
  • Commercial property (rent review, lease renewal, etc.)
  • Construction disputes and claims 
  • Dilapidations and housing disrepair
  • Environmental surveying
  • Landlord and tenant 
  • Leasehold enfranchisement 
  • Planning and development 
  • Professional negligence
  • Property management 
  • Rating Valuation
